The Mission of
A.B.Normal Films
We believe the world needs more diverse horror stories that are ultimately hopeful and empower audiences.
What is "Horror with a Heart" ?
Stories that center women and queer people who face dire and horrific situations to emerge on the other side stronger and empowered.

The mind behind A.B.Normal Films

Jessica's Childhood Halloween Costumes
After working for Academy Award and Emmy-nominated industry members, Jessica McLaughlin survived one of the greatest horrors there is: teaching high school… in a global pandemic. Upon completing her B-story as a teacher, she moved to Los Angeles where she now writes both TV and film projects, directs, edits, and casts films.
Armed with a BFA in Film and TV from NYU and a MFA in TV and Screenwriting from Stephens College, she crafts horror stories centering women and queer characters, and strongly believes in supporting and showcasing under-represented voices in all aspects of the film industry.
A life-long horror fan, Jessica’s love of entertainment started with the scary stuff. She consumes exorbitant amounts of horror content (movies, TV, non-fiction and fiction books, plays, podcasts, music, etc.) for both business and pleasure, and loves lengthy discussions about the social and political context of horror film trends over time.
Jessica also is a passionate advocate of youth film education, increasing support networks for filmmakers, and eliminating access barriers to the film industry.
